- Active Ingredient: Meropenem 1gm.
- Mechanism of Action: It works by killing bacteria (bactericidal) by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial protective cell wall, which is essential for their survival. It is resistant to breakdown by many types of beta-lactamase enzymes produced by bacteria.
- Form: It comes as a powder that is mixed with a sterile liquid (e.g., sterile water, 0.9% sodium chloride, or 5% dextrose solution) to create a solution for injection or infusion.
- Administration: It is typically given as an intravenous (IV) infusion over 15 to 30 minutes, or as an IV bolus (direct injection) over about 5 minutes, every 8 hours.
